Beautiful area, overrun by large cruise ships from time to time, October 21, 2012
Pros: Beautiful town and surrounding area (esp. Acadia National Park)
Cons: Not enough time, and crowded by tourists in season.
Once we finally got off our large cruise ship, the town was beautiful, albeit crowded with three large ships' populations exceeding that of the town. If you go, try driving, or at least a go on a small enough ship so that tenders don't take two hours to land you. Then visit beautiful Acadia National Park as well as the charming town, if you have time.

Acadia national park was fabulous, July 16, 2010
Pros: Just being there was wonderful
Cons: Not enough time there
We did the six-hour excursion with the cruise line that provides a lobster bake. We saw the park, Cadillac Mountain, a lot of Bar Harbor, and the lobster bake was excellent. We had always wanted to visit Acadia National Park and we got to see and enjoy a large part of the area on this excursion. It would be nice to be able to return and spend more time there, but if that opportunity doesn't come along I feel satisfied that we saw the main sights.
