Wine Collections at Sea, The Many Dining Options Aboard The Royal Princess,
The Royal Princess

A Much-Anticipated Voyage on the New Royal Princess,
and Arabian Sea Pirate Drills
The Royal Princess features the largest collection of Super Tuscan wines at sea. Wine enthusiasts will delight with the wide array of world class wines available while dining, as well as specialty wine programs available for guests.
The Super Tuscan Wine Tasting will indulge your palette with a variety of wines. One such event is the Super Tuscan Wine Tasting in Sabatini’s. For a charge of $40, guests can enjoy tastings of five Super Tuscan Wines, as well as bites of delicious foods expertly prepared to accompany each wine.
As I entered Sabatini’s, I was greeted with a glass of champagne. Then it was time to choose a table, all of which were heavily laden with gleaming wine glasses ready for the tasting.
The first of the five red wines was soon poured, as the winemaker – Lamberto Frescobaldi – spoke about the nuances of each wine. After each introduction, a small plate was brought out, ranging from lasagna to beef carpaccio. Master Chef Alfredo Marzi, who has been with Princess Cruises for 40 years, took the microphone to describe why he thought that each entrée expertly paired with the wine.
Dining and drinks aboard the Royal Princess - The 3,600-passenger Royal Princess is debuting this June and has myriad food and drink options available to its visitors. Here are some highlights straight from Princess Cruise Lines:
1. Tea Tower with Sommelier and 250 Blends – Featuring a tea sommelier and a choice of 250 blends, tea lovers will revel in Royal Princess’ unique tea tower located in the ship’s central Piazza. Here passengers can enjoy pre-blended tea varieties or create their own custom flavors. The ship’s tea sommelier, an expert on tea blends, will host tea tasting events and a new Royal Afternoon Tea Experience, inspired by some of the most famous tea spots in London. Whiskey Flights at Wheelhouse Bar – Inspired by the growing popularity of whiskey, the line’s signature Wheelhouse Bar will feature a menu of three different whiskey flights – each featuring three whiskeys. Passengers can choose from single malts, three “Glens” and other iconic whiskey options, each featuring tasting notes.
2. Daily Pub Lunch – Also in the Wheelhouse Bar, Princess’ popular English pub lunch will now be offered daily. Previously available only on select sea days, Royal Princess will serve the full traditional pub-style lunch on all sea days – and on port days will offer fish and chips and a ploughman’s lunch – along with signature brews.

Fun things happening on the cruise ships
Are you a Food Network lover? Their chefs love the cruise lines…
“The tantalizing sizzle of hamburgers frying on a griddle sure caught my attention. I don’t even like hamburgers but I had to try one of these tempting beef sandwiches. After all, this is the famous Guy’s Burger Joint on the new Carnival Breeze. Created in partnership with Food Network’s spiky-haired Guy Fieri, this poolside restaurant is hopping from noon to 6 p.m.each day.” More…
“For those who watch the Food Network, you know Geoffrey Zakarian as one of the judges who frequently helps decide who gets “Chopped.” You may also know he has three restaurants on Norwegian’s newest ship, Breakaway.” More…

New ship reviews
“The world took notice when the Royal Princess was christened on June 13, 2013… I was thrilled to be a part of the international excitement surrounding this newest ship, knowing I’d be sailing on her just a month and a half after she left Southampton.” The time has come, and now ATC writer Kimberly Button is sailing on her… read her Royal Princess diary. Shore excursion of the week:
Spelunking in Barbados – Barbados Harrison’s Cave Tour
For those interested in a shorter excursion focusing on the island's premier attraction, the Barbados Harrison's Cave Tour is exactly the right choice. Setting out from the pier area, you will travel to the middle of the island and the magnificent Harrison's Cave. The drive takes approximately 30 minutes.
At the cave, you will board electrically operated trams that will take you through the extensive system of caverns while experienced guides will give you historical information. The cave is truly a phenomenon of nature. There are amazing galleries of stalactites hanging from the roof of the cave, and stalagmites reaching up from the ground, with emerald pools and pillars where they have joined over thousands of years. The dramatic lighting will enhance your visit. Depending on crowds, your time in the cave is approximately 35-45 minutes. There is also a 20-minute video you can watch either before or after the tour (depending on the wait to get in the cave).

Latest diaries of the AllThingsCruise writers
Pirates? As we entered the Arabian Sea we held our first piracy drill, moving out of our staterooms and away from windows to shelter in the ship’s interior. Crew members manned the high pressure hoses on the main deck. Our Captain, Igor Bencina, takes piracy seriously — and perhaps personally. He was Nautica’s first officer back in November 2008 when the vessel was attacked by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden. More…
