Secret Amenities on Disney, Princess Ships, Cunard, Seabourn and More, The Ocean Princess Reviewed Equals 4.56 out of 5 Stars, Dreamy Tour Offers in the Caribbean and about Whale Watching

The 750-plus cruise experts at CruiseCompete have compiled 10 of the best “secret gems” of onboard services and amenities for several of the major cruise lines.

These are not highly publicized but across the board are well-loved by our guests – and they’re all complimentary!

Following are the secret perks that you’ll love on your next cruise:

Avalon Waterways

Guests are pleasantly surprised by – and love – Avalon’s complimentary Lavazza coffee, cappuccino and espresso available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in their back lounge.  (Complimentary cookies, cakes and teas are also available.)

Crystal Cruises

While the sushi and Japanese delicacies from master chef Nobu Matsuhisa are offered complimentary to all Crystal Cruises guests in Silk Road and at the Sushi Bar, Penthouse guests can also order this cuisine free via room service.

Cunard

Cunard provides complimentary acting workshops for all guests aboard Queen Mary 2, conducted by members of London's renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. They also offer complimentary fencing classes for all guests aboard Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.

European Waterways

On some of European Waterways’ hotel barges in France there is a tandem bicycle for romantics to use as they explore the towpaths alongside the delightful inland waterways.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney offers portable Wave Phones to families so they can stay in touch. The phones each have a unique phone number and work both on board the ship and on Castaway Cay. There are two complimentary phones per stateroom (extra phones incur an additional fee); and can call any other onboard phone and send text messages.

Holland America

Starting with passengers booked in the “Suite” category, Holland America provides guests with complimentary customized stationary.

Lindblad Expeditions

On Lindblad’s National Geographic Explorer (when in the polar regions of Arctic and Antarctica), guests can stop by the Chart Room for a complimentary hot cocoa and step out to the Bridge. They’re welcome any time of day or night – to watch the Captain and his staff go about the calm business of ice navigation. Guests can pick up a pair of binoculars or look through the telescopes and help the expedition team spot wildlife on the pack ice and in polar waters.

Princess Cruises

Princess offers complimentary soft serve ice cream to their guests from Sundaes Ice Cream Bar. They provide approximately 1000 servings per day and typically run the machine from 11a.m. to 6 p.m.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Regent provides a stocked bar in your cabin, filled with all your personal favorites when you embark.

Seabourn

On the Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest, Seabourn suite guests will find a complimentary Wellness Bag exercise kit containing easy-to-carry workout gear for in-suite use.

Scenic Tours

Scenic offers a “TailorMade” shore excursion option, which features a series of self-guided tours enhanced by GPS-activated directions and commentary. (Once aboard the ship, a free Scenic Tailor-made app can be downloaded to your Apple IPhone or IPad, or you can choose to take one of the lines’ pre-loaded devices.)

AMA WATERWAYS

My husband and I discovered the joys of river cruising a couple of years ago and recently took a cruise with AmaWaterways. This was our first voyage with them and I’m pleased to say this line has it right, one of our best trips ever!  More………

The Ocean Princess

Everyone on board worked to make our onboard experience a memorable one. Traditional ship design, less glitz, more old world charm.

Very ample size cabins, we had a balcony which we enjoyed daily, having our morning coffee. Don't expect the large atrium and fancy curved staircase. This is a magnificent small (650 pax) ship. Enjoy the luxury hardwoods and inlaid dance floors.  More…………………..
