The 22 Different Dining Options on Princess Cruises Will Blow Your Mind

At any hour, wherever you go on your Princess® ship, Princess’ chefs are busy baking, grilling and sautéing great tasting fare from scratch. Whether you want to dress up or dress down, there’s an incredible variety of fresh, flavorful cuisine awaiting you.

Check out the wonderful inclusive dining options that you can savor every day on board with Princess. Some charges may apply and some offerings are available on specific ships.

Fine Dining Options

Elegant restaurant-style dining rooms offering an amazing variety of multi-course gourmet selections

Asian summer rolls garnished with vegetables and sauce; seared fish over steamed vegetables

From zesty appetizers to robust tasting soups, crisp salads, sumptuous main courses and luscious desserts, you'll eat like a king – or queen. Best of all, you can choose from two great inclusive dining options.

Anytime Dining℠

Anytime Dining option—a Princess original—allows you the freedom to eat with whomever you wish, and whenever you like—just as you would at a fine restaurant—between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. You can have a table for two one evening and join a group for a festive meal the next. The choice is yours.

Traditional Dining

The classic cruise experience, Traditional Dining option allows you to dine at the same time, either 6:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. in Princess’ upscale main dining rooms. You’ll be seated at the same table and enjoy the same tablemates and wait staff throughout your voyage.

Decadent Desserts

It's your vacation, so indulge! Each evening, you'll have your choice of delectable desserts to choose from in the dining rooms. Perennial guest favorites include the Princess Love Boat Dream, traditional New York cheesecake and create-your-own sundae. You'll also find fresh cookies, pastries and other treats at the International Café and the Horizon Court buffet.

Breakfast & Lunch Dining Also Available

If you'd like a sit-down breakfast or lunch in a refined setting, visit select dining rooms during set hours and enjoy a delicious meal off the menu right from the galley, with gracious wait staff to take care of your every need.

There is an endless list of dining venues to choose from:

In The Atrium

When the craving hits, head to the heart of the ship for small bite choices that will surely satisfy.

1.  24-Hour International Cafe

Located in the Piazza you'll find the International Café. Open around the clock, you'll always find something delicious to nosh on from breakfast parfaits to grilled paninis and gourmet salads, daily soups and a host of tasty desserts including freshly baked cookies. You can also get a variety of specialty coffees, teas and more.

2.  Alfredo's Pizzeria

Named for Princess Master Chef Alfredo Marzi, this charming restaurant offers gourmet pizzas with an open kitchen and dining bar, where you can watch as your personal pizza is crafted by hand and served straight out of the oven.

3.  Vines

Voted one of the "Best Wine Bars at Sea," by USA Today, this charming corner of the Atrium boasts an extensive collection of wines, like Opus One, Super Tuscans and regional offerings for purchase. The menu also includes wine flights and a selection of wines by the glass. Gourmet delicacies, such as made-to-order sushi and tapas, are complimentary with any wine purchase.

4.  Gelato

On select ships, you'll delight in handmade gelato and sorbet at a nostalgic ice cream bar, aptly named Gelato, offering a dizzying array of flavors, as well as a full complement of tasty toppings.

On Deck

5.  Pizzeria

It’s the "Best Pizza at Sea" says USA Today. Harkening back to Princess’ Italian heritage, Neapolitan-style pizza is hand-tossed and freshly baked right on deck. From traditional margherita and pepperoni to the daily specials, you'll find it nearly impossible to pass by without grabbing a slice, or two.

6.  Burger & Hot Dog Grill

This isn't fast food, it's fresh food fast—right on deck. The burgers are homemade and buns are baked throughout the day. Enjoy a juicy cheeseburger, perhaps a brat with sauerkraut, or even a grilled chicken sandwich and other daily specials. And be sure to complement it with a side order of golden fries.

7.  Soft Serve on Deck

When you want to cool down, or just have a craving for something sweet, head on deck for complimentary soft serve chocolate or vanilla ice cream. You can also purchase sundaes with a variety of toppings from sprinkles and nuts to hot toppings, gummy bears, cookie crumbs and more.

8.  Horizon Court Buffet

Indulge in a delightful array of familiar favorites and regional dishes, in a casual setting at breakfast, lunch or dinner, and be sure to try the Crab Shack on select evenings. Check back throughout the day as selections change and enjoy fresh fruits, a loaded salad bar and desserts galore. Waiters are always nearby to serve your favorite beverage.

9.  The Pastry Shop at Horizon Court

It'll be nearly impossible to pass up the treats at the Pastry Shop at Horizon Court. You'll find an incredible assortment of mouthwatering treats, from fresh pie and cakes to decadent pastries and more.

10.  Movie & Munchies

Watching a hit film poolside with Movies Under the Stars? Well, only a few steps away, you'll find complimentary soft-serve ice cream. And while you’re up, why not grab a slice of freshly baked pizza and a beer, soft drink or cocktail at the bar? In the evenings, servers are on hand to offer popcorn, as well as take your beverage order.

11.  In Stateroom

A little snack, or even dinner on your balcony, is only a phone call away.

12.  24-Hour Room Service

Princess offers 24-hour complimentary room service when you want to enjoy a quiet moment in your cabin munching on a club sandwich or maybe that slice of chocolate fudge cake. For times that call for a romantic in-cabin evening, a balcony dinner with endless ocean views, and maybe even a little bubbly, can be just the trick – just pick up the phone and make your reservation.

Specialty Dining

Cruise dining is always extraordinary with Princess, and its upscale restaurants elevate fine dining to dizzying new heights. Savor the Italian flavors of Sabatini’s or premium steak and seafood cooked to perfection at Crown Grill, just to name a few. They’re mouth-watering experiences you just can’t miss!

13.  SHARE, By Curtis Stone

Chef Curtis Stone’s first restaurant at sea, SHARE, gives you an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the world-class cuisine of this award-winning chef and restaurateur. Featuring the finest ingredients at sea, Chef Stone's exquisite menu offers enticing charcuterie, composed salads, handmade pastas, premium quality meats and decadent desserts, for a meal you’ll savor for years to come. (Available on Ruby Princess, Emerald Princess and Sun Princess.)

14.  Salty Dog Gastropub

A warm, inviting gastropub developed in collaboration with Ernesto Uchimura, a founding chef of the original Umami Burger. Try one of our innovative gourmet creations inspired by pub favorites or devour The "Ernesto,” a savory rib eye burger crafted exclusively for Princess by Chef Uchimura. Offering a unique variety of beer, whiskey and cocktail selections, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

15.  Sabatinis

Across the Princess fleet, more Executive Chefs hail from Italy than from any other nation. Savor signature Italian pastas and delicious seafood specialties inspired by these Italian culinary experts at arguably one of the "Best Cruise Ship Specialty Restaurants" at sea, according to USA Today.

16.  Crown Grill

A refined steakhouse that serves aged and hand cut, cooked-to-order steaks and premium seafood, including grilled shrimp and lobster. With a rich wood décor and a theater-style open kitchen, no wonder this specialty restaurant was named among the "Best Cruise Ship Steakhouses" by USA Today.

17.  Sterling Steakhouse

This is more than just a traditional steakhouse, serving the highest quality cuts of beef, including New York strip steak, Porterhouse and Filet Mignon. Voted among the "Best Cruise Ship Steakhouses" by USA Today.

18.  Chefs Table

The Chef’s Table is an extraordinary treat for both gastronomes and gourmet novices. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes galley tour with Champagne and hors d'oeuvres, followed by an extravagant multi-course dinner created and hosted by the executive chef.

19.  Kai Sushi

An exquisitely decorated traditional sushi bar, serving up sushi and sashimi expertly prepared before your eyes. Dine at the sushi bar or enjoy an elegant restaurant experience.

20.  Bayou Cafe

The first New Orleans-inspired specialty restaurant at sea, Bayou Café offers fresh and authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine, N’Awlins crawfish “mud bug” bisque, peel-and-eat shrimp, smothered gator ribs, chicken and chorizo jambalaya, and Porterhouse steak.

21.  Ultimate Balcony Dining

Choose a luxurious breakfast or experience the "ultimate" romantic dinner at sea: a sumptuous four-course meal, including succulent lobster tail and juicy steak, your beverage of choice, hors d’oeuvres, all served right on your balcony served by Princess’ dedicated wait staff.

22.  Premium Chocolate Experiences – With Love

Norman Love—whose exquisite, silky, rich confections have been recognized by InStyle Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, and O, the Oprah Magazine—has designed some of the most decadent, hand-crafted treats in partnership with Princess for its exclusive Chocolate Journeys program, available onboard fleetwide. Trained in France, and named the Inaugural Inductee into the Chocolatier Hall of Fame by Dessert Professional Magazine, Love’s creations blend premium quality chocolate, unique flavors and artful designs that are perfect for any chocolate lover!

Best for:

The mid-size and big ships are best for couples, families, multi-generational groups and singles who enjoy an active environment and want many itinerary choices. For mature travelers who want a small-ship experience with few children, longer itineraries and off-the-beaten path ports, the Ocean Princess and Pacific Princess are good choices.

Atmosphere and experience onboard:

A good slogan for Princess might be: "Have it Your Way," for the line has a fleet of different style ships, sails itineraries all over the world -- and successfully blends traditional cruise elements with more modern amenities.

For example, the line has set seating – and also offers "Anytime Dining." The entertainment mix includes traditional Vegas-style revues, talent shows and comedians -- and also the newer "Movies Under the Stars."

The dining mix (varies by ship) might include a New Orleans-style cafe or an Italian restaurant. The three-deck Piazza, a relatively new feature that's being expanded to older ships, includes a 24-hour cafe, a wine bar and Alfredo's pizza, as well as shops and a performance venue.

Princess ships have casinos, nightclubs, discos and kids' clubs. All have Lotus spas and fitness centers that offer yoga and other classes. Some spas feature alternative therapies like acupuncture; the newer ones have such medi-spa options like Botox and other fillers. Depending on the ship, activities might include art auctions and all kinds of classes (some carry a fee): computer technology, photography, ceramics or cooking.

The newest (Royal Class) ships have expanded Piazzas, SeaWalks (glass-enclosed walkway) and Princess Live! (interactive TV studio).

Princess cruises include both formal nights (one for seven-to-13-night trips) and smart casual nights. Formal means a tuxedo or dark suit for men and gowns, cocktail dresses or fancy pants suit for women. Smart Casual means pants and open neck shirts for men and dresses; skirts or slacks and sweaters or blouses for women. T shirts, shorts and halter tops are not allowed in the dining. Shoes must be worn in the dining rooms.

Back in "the old days" of cruising, friends and family were allowed to come aboard with passengers, perhaps to share some champagne and small treats before the sailing time. That sweet custom ended, but Princess revived it with the "Bon Voyage" experience, which allows guests to come aboard for a tour and lunch with wine.

Clientele:

Depending on the ship, fellow passengers can include family groups, couples, singles or mature travelers. On the big or mid-size ships, you'll find the broadest mix. The two smaller ships – Ocean Princess and Pacific Princess – have fewer features that appeal to families and sail longer itineraries to more exotic ports, so they attract older travelers.

Policies regarding children onboard:
The minimum passenger age is 6 months on Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, Trans-canal and Australia/New Zealand cruises, and 12 months on all other cruises, including transatlantic and transpacific itineraries.

Children under the age of 3 are welcome to visit the Youth Center, if accompanied and supervised by a parent at all times.

All vessels, with the exception of the Ocean and Pacific Princess, have dedicated Youth Centers and Teen Lounges. These two vessels offer youth programs when 20 or more children, ages 3-17, are traveling on a given voyage. Children under the age of 3 are welcome to visit the Youth Center, if accompanied and supervised by a parent at all times.
