Stepping into the Ring at Sea
Royal Caribbean promised to cater to passengers with active lifestyles
when outfitting its newest liner, Freedom of the Seas, scheduled to debut
this spring. A planned surfing simulator is sure to draw wave reviews.
Passengers will be able to step out of the water and into the ring - a
boxing ring - as well. Few bloody noses are expected, however, with
trained coaches and punching bags available to guests simply looking for
an extreme workout. Nobody really thinks much sparring will take place,
although this may be an ideal way to handle an annoying passenger.
80 New Cruise Adventures
Catering to savvy cruisers looking for truly unusual travel experiences,
Crystal Cruises is debuting 80 brand new Crystal Adventures this summer on
11 cruises throughout the Baltic and Northern Europe regions. Among the
many opportunities: a once-in-a-lifetime chance to test your sledding
skills on the original Olympic bobsled and luge track used during the
Lillehammer Olympics (from Oslo); a jet-set speed boat adventure through
the Finnish archipelago (from Helsinki); a hot air balloon journey above
the Irish countryside (from Dublin); a Russian Ballet performance at the
Mariinsky Theatre, home of the Kirov Dance Troupe; and overnight
excursions to Moscow, including the chance to fly a MiG fighter jet or
visit to the renowned KGB Museum.
