What a Site: 36 Web Addresses You Should Know

Using the Internet is here to stay. In the past year, nearly 45 million booked their travel plans through the Web, up nearly 6 percent form the previous year, according to a survey by the Travel Industry Association. These are our admittedly subjective top picks.--The Washington Post, November 2006.

CruiseCompete.com ranked among "25 Best Travel Value Sites"

In the October 2006 edition of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, the editors recognized CruiseCompete.com as one of the Top 25 best travel value Web sites. As reported in the respected publication, "These top Web sites will help you find the best values in travel bargains. We've personally used each of these sites to research and book travel and found them superior to others."--Kiplinger's Personal Finance.

Carnival recognizes military personnel through special promotion

Carnival Cruise Lines is paying respect to our nation's military personnel by launching a special Veteran's Day promotion that runs through the end of the month. In addition to special reduced rates for themselves on a range of cruises, the exclusive pricing also is being offered to their family and friends for up to two additional cabins.

The special pricing is good for cruises departing between now and March 31, 2007. Reservations must be made by the end of November. The special promotion includes 3, 4 and 5-day cruises to the Bahamas, Caribbean or Mexico, staring at $179 per person. Seven-day Caribbean cruises start at $349 per person. Proof of eligibility is required to reserve the staterooms at the promotional rates.

San Diego to soon feature year-round cruise schedule

Starting in June of next year, cruise travelers looking for "fun" will be able to take advantage of San Diego's first year-round cruise schedule, courtesy of Carnival Cruise Lines. The 2,052-passenger Carnival "Fun Ship" Elation will take vacationers on 4 and 5-day Baja Mexico cruises. The Elation will offer 78 voyages annually from San Diego, joining the 2, 124-passenger Carnival Spirit, which has operated seasonal 8-day Mexican Riviera cruises from San Diego since 2004.

When the Elation begins its year-round service, Carnival is expected to carry more than 230,000 passengers annually from San Diego - more than any other cruise operator. The port is within a day's drive for many residents of the western United States, and San Diego offers a variety of convenient air options with the airport only a few minutes away from the cruise terminal.
