Cruise Dining Experience Updates.....

Jacques Pepin to open restaurant on Oceania's new ship the Marina

The sixth restaurant on Oceania Cruises' newest ship will be the first named for the line's master chef, Jacques Pepin. Oceania executives and Pepin made the announcement at an event recently in NYC.

The Marina, Oceania's 1,258-passenger ship slated for a late 2010 debut, will have a French bistro called Jacques. It will be the first French restaurant on any Oceania ship. The restaurant will have a rotisserie, an antique wood floor and antique French flatware.

Pepin will design the menu at Jacques. "Good food is simple food with the best possible ingredients," Pepin said. "Oceania has a commitment to good food."

Pepin has been Oceania's executive culinary director since the line launched in 2003. In the 1950's, he was the personal chef to three French presidents.

Pepin is author of over 20 cookbooks and has hosted several cooking shows.

Carnival Dream to Feature Several New Restaurants and Dining Choices

The Carnival Dream, scheduled to debut on Sept. 21, will offer several new dining options.

The Chef's Art Steakhouse, located on Spa Deck 12, will seat 139 and specialize in dry-aged beef. Carnival will charge $30 per person for this alternative restaurant. Reservations are recommended.

The Gathering, a two-level eatery, will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Options within The Gathering include a pasta bar, a burrito bar, a Mongolian wok, a 35-item salad bar and a tandoori oven serving Indian specialties. There is no charge to dine at the Gathering.

Located along the Promenade Deck will be Wasabi, a sushi bar serving complimentary sushi.

The Ocean Plaza, an indoor/outdoor cafe, will have a dance floor and a stage for live entertainment. Ocean Plaza also will offer full WiFi access and 12 stand-alone kiosks where guests can access the FunHub, the Carnival Dream's onboard social network.

Within Ocean Plaza, the Plaza Cafe will sell specialty coffees, pastries and milkshakes. There also will be full bar service.
