Carnival Cruises to sail out of popular seattle in 2010

In its continued push to place to more ships at U.S. homeports, Carnival Cruise Lines will sail roundtrip from Seattle on Alaska cruises, starting in May 2010.

The line currently operates Alaska cruises out of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Whittier, Alaska. The itineraries will mark Carnival's first time cruising from Seattle.

Carnival said the 2,124-passenger Carnival Spirit would operate 17 seven-day cruises from Seattle from May 11 to Aug. 31, 2010 departing on Tuesdays.

"Seattle is a terrific addition to Carnival's industry-leading number of North American departure points," said Lynn Torrent, Carnival's senior vice president of sales and guest services, in a statement. "It will provide our guests with a convenient and affordable air transportation option, as well as the opportunity for those in the Western region of the U.S. to drive to Seattle."

The ship will call in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia, and will spend a cruising day in Tracy Arm Fjord.

Ports of Stockholm award environmental prize to Crystal Cruises

The Ports of Stockholm annually select a cruise ship as the winner of The Environmental Buoy Diploma. For the third year the winner of the prize for its active environmental efforts is Crystal Cruises' vessel Crystal Symphony.

"The Crystal Symphony is awarded this year's diploma for its serious commitment to developing environmental efforts. It is important to us that the cruise ships arriving in Stockholm respect the sensitive Baltic Sea environment," says David Schubert, Passenger Marketing Manager for the Ports of Stockholm.

The Environmental Buoy Diploma has been awarded by the Ports of Stockholm since 2000 to cruise ships and their crews in recognition of good environmental efforts within shipping in the Baltic Sea. The cruise ship Crystal Symphony will be calling at Stockholm on three times during the summer of 2009, 29th June, 24th July and 12th August.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises ambitious refurbishment complete

The 700-guest all-suite, all-balcony luxury vessels, Seven Seas Voyager and Seven Seas Mariner, completed their respective dry-docks just in time to debut on their 2009 World Cruises. The refurbishment program cost approximately $40 million; the result is a fresh, elegant and luxurious feel aboard each ship, while retaining the warmth and charm for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises is acclaimed.

Dining
New to both ships, the intimate Prime 7 is a glamorous, contemporary interpretation of a classic American steakhouse, with eight USDA Prime, dry-aged steaks to choose from, plus an enticing selection of lamb, pork, poultry and seafood specialties. While the other restaurants have received a fresh new look, for more casual dining options, both ships also now feature a pizza oven and ice cream bar.

Lounges
Seven Seas Voyager now features an extended coffee and snack bar area, similar to the popular Coffee Connection on Seven Seas Mariner.

Suites
Carpeting, wallpaper, upholstery, light fixtures, and drapes have been replaced in most guest suite accommodations.

Public areas
Radiating a new sense of warmth and sophistication, the ships' public spaces are resplendent with elegant new furnishings, carpeting and accents. New lounge and dining areas have been created around the Pool Grill, providing guests more options for outdoor enjoyment.

Spa & Fitness
A refreshed reception area welcomes guests to the Spas by Carita of Paris, a heavenly escape into a secluded realm of supreme tranquility. New fixtures, floor and furniture complete the remodel, which also extends to the Fitness Center for guests wishing to transform their physique as well as their state of mind.
