Alaska Demand High, Book Early for 2007
Princess Cruises is deploying a record five ships to accommodate demand
for its Gulf of Alaska route in 2007. The Pacific Princess will be
joining the gulf fleet, providing yet another option for travelers who
will have the choice of ships that can hold from 670 to 2,670 passengers.
Cruisers will have a total of 85 Gulf of Alaska departures on two
different seven-day itineraries from which to choose. The Diamond
Princess, Sapphire Princess, Coral Princess and Island Princess cruise
ships will return for "Voyage of the Glaciers" cruises between Vancouver
and Whittier, while the Pacific Princess will set sail on alternating
seven-night northbound and southbound itineraries, featuring new mid-week
departures.
Celebrity is assigning three ships to Alaska next year. Starting next
May, the Celebrity Infinity will sail roundtrip, seven-night Hubbard
Glacier cruises from Vancouver, while the Celebrity Mercury will sail on
seven-night Hubbard Glacier cruises that also visit Juneau, Skagway and
Ketchikan, Alaska. The Celebrity Summit, meanwhile, will sail alternating
seven-night northbound/southbound Alaska cruises. The southern route
departs from Seward, Alaska.
There are still some good deals on Alaska options remaining for this year
(especially in August), it's a good idea to start thinking ahead if you
want to have your choice of sailings and cabins for next summer.
